Point 16 Wedding \ Big Sur Wedding Photographer \ Allie and Alex

Allie Wright and Alex Blake wed on a dreamy mountaintop at Point 16 in Big Sur, California. As the sun sets on the deep blue, diamond studded surface of the Pacific, it bathes the coastal mountain ranges in warm hues of light. Evening dew forms on the grazing fields atop rolling hills, and fresh fog accumulates among the crashing waves below rocky cliff faces and on long, sandy beaches. Through the fog birds sing for the coming night, and cool wind brings the smell of salt to all who bear witness. This is no fantasy setting, but the daily splendor of life among the cost in Big Sur, California.

Nestled in this idyllic setting is Point 16, a wedding venue built to cherish and respect the natural beauty of California’s coastline. Widely regarded as one of the most spectacular locations in the world, it is here that Allie and Alex traveled to celebrate their bond with loved ones. Wrapped in the loving embrace of family and surrounded by the natural privacy and intimacy of the iconic Big Sur Clouds, this wedding was truly one made in heaven.

Alex and Allie discovered Point 16 while on a road trip up the California coast early in their relationship. They were stunned at the peace and beauty that resides among the rolling hills of Big Sur. Even after five years of adventures, they knew they needed to return to the coast to join their souls after Alex proposed on a private retreat in Belize.

During the autumnal equinox on September 22, 2018, Alex and Allie tied the knot while overlooking the landscape that stole their hearts so many years ago. As the white fog enveloped the wedding party, they exchanged vows while illuminated by the warm glow of natural candlelight and ancient trees strung with lights and adorned with florals from Big Sur Flowers. Even their first song, ‘Into the Mystic’ by Van Morrison complemented perfectly with the surroundings. Guests were seated at tables all named in honor of California’s tree varieties and dined on a bountiful and locally sourced feast including oysters, line caught rockfish ceviche, oak grilled Neiman Ranch rosemary Dijon beef try-tip, halibut, and more, all provided by A Big Sur Affair. They then celebrated in dance with music by The Motet, a popular funk band from Denver, CO. A Parker Lusseau genoise and passion fruit ‘naked cake’, lightly dusted in powdered sugar and covered in figs, berries, and roses was shared with all to celebrate the happy couple. A final late-night snack of gourmet s’mores ended the evening at Point 16 before shuttles took guests back to Carmel-By-The-Sea for an after party.
