Rosewood Sand Hill | Ashima & Joe
Ashima and Joe are detail people, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Every layer of this day was considered, every color intentional, and the result was one of the most joyful, vibrant celebrations I have photographed. They brought together a big, happy crowd of the people they love and turned the gardens of Rosewood Sand Hill into something out of a dream.
If you have not been, Rosewood Sand Hill is a Forbes Five-Star hotel set on sixteen lush acres in Menlo Park, with sweeping views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and some of the most beautiful grounds in all of Silicon Valley. There are flowering gardens for the ceremony, tall Tuscan cypress framing every view, and a glamorous ballroom with sparkling chandeliers for the party. It is understated luxury with that easy, warm West Coast feeling, and it gave Ashima and Joe's design vision the most gorgeous canvas.
The palette was the star, coral and blush and peach roses spilling out everywhere against soft dove-gray suits and so much lush greenery. Their florals were unreal. I could not stop photographing them.
With their wedding party gathered among the cypress, they made their way to a breathtaking circular floral arch in the garden, the kind of ceremony setup that takes your breath away the moment you see it.
The ceremony itself was full of heart, surrounded by all those guests and all that color, with happy tears and big smiles all around.
Then everyone spilled out into cocktail hour and the reception, the lounges, the signature drinks, the details on every single table, all of it as considered and beautiful as the couple who dreamed it up.
As the light softened, Ashima and Joe stole away for a few portraits in the gardens, and they absolutely glowed.
And then they danced. Ashima and Joe, thank you for trusting me with a day this full of color, detail, and love. Rosewood gave you a stunning setting, but the two of you brought the magic.
