There are plenty of well-known photographers with California ties, but I'm not going to hand you a list of names from memory here. I'm a wedding photographer, not a photo historian, and I'd rather point you to a museum or library collection for that than get a name or a date wrong.

What I can tell you about is one California photographer, and that's me. I've been photographing weddings as De Joy Photography since 2008. My roots are in Santa Cruz and the Bay Area, and I don't work out of a fixed studio. I travel to my couples instead. Most of my weddings are in California and Texas.

On the California side, that usually means Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel Valley, Big Sur and the wider Bay Area. I'm also booking weddings in Austin, Texas, and I'll happily travel for a destination wedding anywhere in the world. Along with weddings, I photograph engagements, elopements and boudoir.
